A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Thanks to a couple of labels, I’m getting more and more notice of the scene of countries like Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. Cyclopean Eye Productions are being one of them and presents Aempyrean, an Indian combo that started back in 2015 and released a Morbid Scream cover (“Fist in your Face”) as a digital single not long after. 2018 is the year for new material and they  delivered a fine EP filled with 1980s / 1990s Thrashing combination of Death and Black Metal so you can expect some howling guitars, pounding drums and raspy vocals that is common for that era.

You will hear influences of mid-tempo Angelcorpse, early Sepultura, Deströyer 666 and early Morbid Angel, hence the “Chapel of Ghouls” cover that is giving acte de présence on this EP. You will not hear something refreshing or innovative, but it is an enjoyable display of that era played in the Aempyrean style. Nothing wrong with that. (Ricardo)
