Equinox – The Immortal Kind [EP]

equinox – the immortal kind [ep]

Info

It’s good that these guys keep going on despite the fucked up music business. Their 2nd full length album ‘Journey into oblivion’ was released on Still Dead Productions in 2003 but after a while the label boss disappeared into thin air. And took all the masters of demo and EP material that Equinox sent to him to release on CD with his cheap arse. Truly, fuck him.

Now it’s 2006 and Equinox have found another small record label to unleash their splendid Death Metal music onto humanity. Not many old school bands know how to strike that delicate nerve inside me but these dudes manage to do it every single time. Mind you that although I say old school, this music does not sound outdated by any means. Pete and his band mates inject slight modernish influences into the music and know when to add some keyboards or semi-acoustic guitar parts for amazing atmosphere enhancement.

The re-recording of their old classic and my personal fave Equinox tune ‘Until the Dawn’s Mist’ shows that despite being 13 years old it has stood the test of time superbly and still fucken slays anno 2006.

I commend these guys for keeping their spirits up and trudging ever onwards with firm belief in their music. There isn’t much to bitch about except the fact that it’s an EP instead of a new full length album.

Naming personal favorites when reviewing an EP is like counting the nipples on Scarlet Johansson so you ought to know there’s no filler stuff here! Honestly, old school Florida Death Metal doesn’t get better than this. Get it, play it and bang your ugly head to it!
