A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

In the band’s preparation for their show at the Summoning Of The Elder Spirits festival earlier in 2022, at which the band appeared alongside acts such as Borda’s Rope, Vilkacis and Baphomancia, they recorded this rehearsal tape which they sold at the festival. Most of the tapes were told to have sold at the show, but a few leftovers were spread through other channels.

But regardless of how you were able to get your hands on this tape, it is a nice one with a very raw and energetic rehearsal sound. It breathes that old early 90’s Black Metal demo tape atmosphere, not only because of the minimal recording quality, but definitely also because of the music. The think layer of humming keyboards in the background give the music its ultimately authentic and occult ambience. In terms of feel and atmosphere, it feels close to those acts such as very early Samael or Mortuary Drape. And if we look to today’s Black Metal scene, it nears the sound of a band like Forbidden Temple. The songs, in this particular order, are the way the band played them at the festival. With the majority of the tracks taken from both their full-length albums, ‘Nachtlich’ (2018) and ‘Satanas Solum Initium Est’ (2021) and their equally great ‘Third Ritual’ EP (2018), the set gives a good cross-section of what the band has to offer.
