A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Here’s a band from Down Under that completely slipped under my radar until now: Death Feeder, hailing from Newcastle, New South Wales.

Active since 2021, the band first emerged with their debut single, ‘Rise of the Dead’, followed by ‘Fired Burn’ in 2022. It seems they took a two-year hiatus to refine their craft before unleashing their debut EP, ‘Unleashing Ruin’. What we have here is a total homage to the legendary Swedish greats of the late 80s and early 90s.

We’re talking Nihilist, Dismember, and Entombed. There has been a massive resurgence in HM2-driven Swedish Death Metal over the last decade, and frankly, if it’s done authentically and from the heart, I’m all for it. Much like their fellow Aussie HM2 bruisers, The Plague (if you haven’t heard them yet, get that sorted ASAP), this five-piece is unashamedly rooted in that old-school Swedish style.

I’ve always been of the school of thought that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I’ll never tire of well-executed HM2 Death Metal, and these boys certainly know what they’re doing, period.

While there’s room for a bit of polishing, there is plenty of great music here to enjoy. I’ll be eagerly watching these lads to see what they get up to next.
