Cernunnos is an Italian Black Metal band which plays fast and primitive sounding Black Metal with some slow mid-tempo passages; in the style of old Mayhem and Darkthrone if names are more appealing to you.
This demo contains 6 songs, including an intro and outro. In my opinion this demo is for certain reasons a redundant release; first of all because I’ve heard songs like these a thousand times before (and better played). Everything is played in a very cliché way, and Cernunnos doesn’t have an own identity. The band didn’t send me a biography so I don’t know how long Cernunnos has been together now; yet I do know that band-members Oghme and Von (not the Von that plays in War) better practice for some time more before releasing a demo like this. I believe that they should find a sound of their own, write better songs/compositions and only then try it again.
Don’t understand me wrong, because there are some good ideas to be heard on this demo and, in spite of my criticism, it isn’t a torture for the ears to listen to it, but I don’t think that there are a lot of people waiting for this.
