Info

Once started as a duo, Woeful Silence from Switzerland is a one-man project nowadays, created as an emotional tool, a last resort if you will, to escape a dark place by atmospheric soundscapes.

After reading the reason of existence and you think “Shrouds of Decay” would be filled with mellow Black Metal as a result, than you would be quite surprised. Neamhord is combining the Atmospheric part with depressive passages throughout the lengthy songs and buried his hazy vocals deep in the mix, unless he uses his clean voice.

The pace varies from sorrowful slow to the more atmospheric up-tempo, but the emphasis is more on the slower stretched soundscapes and riffs, especially during “Shrouds of Haze”.

After 30 minutes of grieve I can’t say “Shrouds of Decay” made an lasting impression on me as it couldn’t hold my attention due to the tediousness and I’ve heard better releases in the last couple of years. (Ricardo)
