Info

The French Death Metal trio, well…at least one of them, threw a dart towards the map to decide which part of the world would be their area of inspiration. The dart seems to have hit the USA.

The four tracks, and especially the first two, have the similarities of the slower parts of Morbid Angel’s ‘Formulas Fatal to the Flesh’ and ‘Gateways to Annihilation’ mixed with Immolation and Cannibal Corpse of that same era. It is fair to say Demonist aims for heavy and dark, early 2000 US Death Metal sound. But with a track like ‘Pandemonium’ you hear a different Demonist, where they are still in the USA but more in the mid-90s, more Malevolent Creation meets Monstrosity like.

This self-titled EP is a fun pastime, but I don’t want to make it bigger than that.
