Zkywbrezdreb is yet another release on Elf Eggs. This fairly obscure/unknown musical entity plays raw/lo-fi Black Metal. The production is, as said, extremely lo-fi, possibly recorded on analog equipment or degraded digital gear to emphasize decay and obscurity.
The cassette has a running time of approx. 30 minutes and contains 8 harsh and rotten songs. ‘Remnants of Human Ash’ is not for the meek and the mild – icy vocals that have been feeding on gasoline and methane spew forth their bile which reverberates in this subterranean dwelling where the cassette was recorded. The galloping pounding drums are at the back of the mix, nicely wrapped around Abruptum-like guitars.
Despite its lofi approach, this isn’t a messy cacophony of harsh noise – the cavernous effect is enormous, it’s very disorienting and overwhelming as a whole. Songtitles are: No Friends, No Life, No Core, No Mosh,… ? When it comes to similar artist, I’d say, Emit, Vordb, a bit of Abruptum.
It also appears to be Zkywbrezdreb’s 1st record. Elf Eggs are handling this release but Forbidden Files are also selling ‘Remnants of Human Ash’.
Those interested in some nihilism know what to do.
