The bloke behind this one-man project, Andrew Black, was once active in the Doom/Sludge scene with Sorceress and delved into Ambient after Sorceress disbanded.

Now after years of exploring Ambient, he has chosen Atmospheric Black Metal as his path to channel his emotions about pain and anger, where he used ambient for his depression and anxiety. The Black Metal itself has a gloomy and melancholic atmosphere, although it could be a bit too clean for some. It still has Doom pace and riffs in it, just listen to ‘Wearing Away’ and ‘I am Many’, so Mr. Black is attempting to merge both worlds into one.

But does he succeed? I think for those who enjoy Doom and clean produced Black Metal, with an atmospheric and depressive touch but without agonized vocals, this will be something to check out. If you prefer your Black Metal melancholic yet more grim and frostbitten, ‘Litha’ will probably appeal less.
