A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

This split by two extreme acts from Singapore opens with the 90s Death Metal of Dispiteous, where the muffled sound is the first thing that stands out. Dispiteous clearly picks up where ‘Divination of Possession’, left off, although on the new track ‘Void of Eden’, it seems they have moved away from the Hypocrisy influence to seek out a sound more like Monstrosity and Brutality.

Cardiac Necropsy blends old school Grindcore with Death Metal and has opted to re-record ‘Sadistic Bleeding’, from their unreleased 1993 demo. This demo was finally released in 2024, containing ‘Prophecy of a God That Doesn’t Exist’, as well. The grindin’ Death Metal of Cardiac Necropsy is solid enough, but feels a bit like a dime a dozen.
