I must admit, I thought Tristitia had split up. However they strike back with their third album ‘The Last Grief’! I only own their debut ‘One With Darkness’ on which they have another vocalist who used some blackish screams and melancholic clean singing. But on this new cd, a session vocalist has been used who “only” sings. And he really sounds great I must say, some fantastic melancholic Heavy Metal performance!

In the accompanying letter from Holy Records, they are compared to Candlemass. But I’m not sure if that is totally right. The music is also a little bit more Heavy Metal influenced but has not changed that much since their debut. I mean, the majestic acoustic pieces and great Doom-riffs were also on that ‘One with Darkness’. I must mention that the singer only can be heard on 5 songs of the 12, which might be because the album was first recorded without any vocals at all. There are many acoustic instrumental intermezzo-songs on this album but you can hear that these aren’t fillers but are well written. I admit that guitarist Luis B. Galvez is really talented and writes some great music!

All together you’ll get 48 minutes of melancholic Heavy Doom. Get it!
