On August 6th of the year 2022, an unknown, brand new, Texas Death Metal band, Slaughter Swamp, put out their very first demo. And this demo is two tracks, nine minutes of what they so nicely called called the ‘Summer Promo ’22’.
These two tracks are definitely not the soundtrack to laying on the beach, soaking up the sun. No, this is the score for the murderous horde tearing the beachgoers to shreds, turning the waters red. It also happens to show us a young band fleshing out their sound. Taking their influences, adding them up and molding them together with their own touches of themselves to create a monsterous flesh baby of Death.
Those influences that they throw in the mix, to these ears, would be (in no particular order of importance) Immolation, Malevolent Creation, early Sepultura and splashes of Speed and Thrash Metal to create the utterly good devestation that is Slaughter Swamp’s ‘Summer Promo ’22’.
