‘Horde Of Disgust’ is the fifth album for the Italian Black/Thrash Metal band Satanika. Although the band has been releasing their albums and EP’s through a wide range of different labels, including Doomentia Records and their current record hustler Osmose Productions, the band has not yet been really able to cement their names in the Blackened Thrash Metal scene.

And, to be totally honest, while listening to ‘Horde Of Disgust’, that again is not much of a surprise. While the album is a quite an entertaining listen, it never sparks any real enthusiasm. It lacks power and sharpness found in bands like Desaster, or the catchy Heavy Metal hooks of Deströyer 666 nor the angular aggression of Aura Noir – just to mention three of the best bands in this particular genre. It is rather fast, but it is not blistering. It has some nice chugging riffs, but maybe only five of them. Melodies, hooks, good song writing… not much of that is to be found with the lads of Satanika. It is not all that bad and it works just fine playing this as a bit of a background tune, but I am quite sure this is not really what the duo behind the band was aiming for when they wrote and recorded ‘Horde Of Disgust’.
