Info

The band Imperial (original name) was formed in ’95, but they were forced ’97 to change their name to Krieg due to a contracted European band (bastards!). The sound Krieg produces, and intent to create from the beginning, can be described as primal Black Metal, thus similar to a Judas Iscariot and an early Darkthrone. Krieg manages to offer us this particularly sound with their CD ‘Destruction Ritual’.

After a short intro Krieg burst loose with 11 songs whom where written and recorded in the period from ’98 to ’01. Expect no softy keyboard parts nor mercy on this disk, but a pure assault on the today-Black-Metal-trends. Allas, ‘Suicide Amidst Katharsis’ and ‘Still Waters Shall Remain Their Tombs’ are a short victim of the keyboards.

Raging drum, hellish vocals and fast guitars are a fact, though this last aspect is overwhelmed by the drum most of the time. There for the production could have been better concerning this element. Krieg has been and will always be Imperial on the instruments though on this album he used a session drummer. It’s also nice to know he’d also taken up vocals for Weltmacht and participated in several Judas Iscariot performances.

By listening this record, you’ll have a destructive ritual of your own. Hate towards mankind!
