Trench Hell – Southern Cross Ripper [EP]

trench hell – southern cross ripper [ep]

Info

After the great “Alcoholic Disaster” EP from four years back, these Australians are back with a 12” consisting of six ultra harsh tracks that could easily have been released twenty years ago. It was quite a wait after the aforementioned 7” EP, though it was also re-released as a picture 7” a few years later (and still available if you take some time to look for it), but the wait has been rewarded.

It is no real surprise that these guys have been involved in acts like Nocturnal Graves, Toxic Holocaust and Gospel Of The Horns as the old school thrash vibe is like everywhere. Music that date from the time that thrash, speed, black and death metal (and even punk) were more or less the same still didn’t loose much of its initial charm, apparently. The crunchy Hellhammer riffs, the hollow vocals and the pummeling drums are adding to the great rawness and purity of this 12” that go easily hand in hand with records like “In The Sign Of Evil”, “Hell Awaits” or “Apocalyptic Raids”. That is quite a statement, but nothing short of the truth.

This 12” is available on white vinyl as well as on black wax – and for those who still can’t see it, it is also available on CD. Delicious stuff, it never gets old – or, in fact, it is, but that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
