Melodic Black Metal from Florida, a region that beholds so many great Death Metal releases. This time it’s The Noctambulant with their debut full-length after releasing 3 EP’s. “Advocatus Diaboli” is certainly Melodic and more the European way instead of the traditional USBM sound. It has hints of nowadays Naglfar (“Téras”) mixed with some Dark Funeral during the fast parts (“Vobiscum Satanas”) and even slightly late Cradle of Filth, if you strip it all the way down, (not the high shrieks of Dani Filth, nor the bombastic sound) at some points. Still, at the end I don’t hear something ravishing or memorable. Maybe less groove and staccato moments and more focusing on sticking melodic guitar lines, could do the trick for the next album.
