Striborg – Perceiving The World With Hate

striborg – perceiving the world with hate

Info

Striborg, the band that seems to be hated just as much as loved, is what you can call a productive band. The newest release in that line is ‘Perceiving the World with Hate‘.

As could be expected, ‘Perceiving the World with Hate‘ proves to be nothing different than the usual formula of a Striborg release. So, if you’ve never cared for the low-fi depressive Ambient Black Metal of Sin Nanna, I doubt this album will change your mind. At the same time, I can see how people could relate to the pitch-black eerie atmosphere of for instance ‘The Dark Forest’s Embrace’. Fact of the matter is that Striborg is all about making you feel uncomfortable and on ‘Perceiving the World with Hate‘ Sin Nanna has undoubtedly succeeded in doing that, regardless of the way he conceives this discomfort in the listener. Not being an outspoken fan or hater of the band, I can see the value of the bleak atmosphere of tracks like ‘Call of the Redwood Forest’(also featuring guest vocals and keys by Malefic of Xasthur fame) and the attempt to bring a more faster approach to his music in ‘Negative Emanations’. At the same time, the atmosphere in ‘Etherial Moon’ is more annoying rather than oppressing, and the instrumental tracks (‘Origin of Paranormal Possibilities‘ and ‘When the Moon and the Earth Collide into the Sun’) really add nothing to the album. So there, this record is everything Striborg stands for, I guess that’s all the info you really need to decide whether the album is worth a listen or not.
