Stiletto Sun – Disjecta Membra [EP]

stiletto sun – disjecta membra [ep]

Info

Stiletto Sun is a Greek one man project hailing from the Hellenic capital of Athens that creates a deeply satisfying blend of Experimental and Melodic Black Metal on its debut EP entitled ‘Disjecta Membra’. Opening track ‘The Pnakotic Manuscripts’ has a glorious mix of chanted and rasping croaked vocal styles, and the wandering guitar melodies are a black and twisted delight to behold. Furthermore the use of nightmarish folk like tones and haunting mesmeric interludes is another great twist in this ever evolving storybook style of Black Metal. ‘Bloodless I beg You’ adds to the creepy nature of this EP through slowly building guitar tones that branch out into a plodding, deeply melodic track that really indulges itself in its bleak folk leanings before blast beatings its way to a quickening crescendo, very similar in style to some of A Forest of Stars work. Hidden within the almost carnival like madness is an underlying theme of old fashioned horror that comes out through the lyrics but also the vastly array of instrumental prowess that extends to the use of Spanish guitars for a sombre sobering effect. Like the soundtrack to a grand old fashioned horror flick, ‘Skelleton Line’ closes out this wonderful EP in supreme fashion and also marks the heaviest and most aggressive side of Stiletto Sun. There is nothing to dislike about this EP, it is grandiose, atmospheric, bleak, uplifting and powerful from start to finish.
