Skála – The Secrecy

skála – the secrecy

Info

Enshrined in the nostalgia of childhood memories from rural Czechia, debut album ‘The Secrecy’ (Released through New England underground label Eternal Death on a superb looking cassette) bridges the gap between out right lo-fi Black Metal and its uber-polished brethren to bring you an imaginative listening experience that will transport you back into your own reminiscences .

To me, Skála is an empty field as yet unsullied by human tread. Lay back on the grass whilst listening to ‘The Secrecy’ and you’ll be met by traditional Black Metal fare as the journey begins before being transported on a winding path through far more progressive sounding rhythms and melodies.

‘The Secrecy’ is a rough sounding debut album with a strong foundation of Heavy Metal, and as you venture further into its meanderings a rich tapestry of absorbing harmonies, captivating guitar leads and dexterous melodies reveal themselves to you. Personally I found the album to have a soothing quality despite the raw vocals and biting edge to the riffs, and the more I listened the more the progressive qualities shone like a beacon of light.
