Sartegos – As Fontes Do Negrume [EP]

Info

Sartegos started back in 2008 in order to perform basterized form of metal in the vein of Demoncy, Mystifier, Mayhem, Mortuary Drape, Darkthrone, Profanatica, Archgoat…and the namedropping that made me curious; old Rotting Christ and Varathron. The two demos prior to the “As Fontes Do Negrume” EP, were well received, especially the “Mortualha” demo in 2011. Mastermind Rou Sartegos and his occult skinbasher Vindok went back to the rehearsing room and created this fine EP consisting of 5 songs, an intro and an outro. The compositions are murky, dark and certainly interesting, like the track “Lostregos sob as Tumbas”. Bestial Black / Death Metal, with a slower part in the middle accompanied with a haunting lead. After that Sartegos goes more uptempo to finish the blaspheme ritual. Normally I’m not that fond of just typing over the bands which are mentioned in the biography, still, with Sartegos it’s spot on. While listening to the start of “O Dragom” I hear a typical old Greek Black Metal riff which could be a Varathron-riff, if the sound was different. For the vinyl and tape fanatics, it’s also Released on 12″ MLP by I, Voidhanger Records and Released on tape format by Caverna Abismal Records in collaboration with Egg of Nihilism Productions, limited edition of 266 copies. If you are enjoying the bands I mentioned in the first sentence, and add some Necros Christos, Grave Miasma and Father Befouled as well, you will do yourself a favor to check out Sartegos. (Ricardo)
