Sanctus – Music From Mars

Info

Sanctus was the obscure NWOBHM band that was Marquise De Sade. On this album you will find the two demos Sanctus recorded and two unreleased tracks from 1983. Sanctus can best described as Deep Purple goes occult NWOBHM. And after almost 30 years this still sounds great for those who like this type of heavy metal with progressive elements. The progressive elements are coming mostly from the keyboard. What I really do not understand is why the track list is so messed up. Listening to the whole album it sounds more as one piece, but this is not how it was supposed to be. Track 1,5,6 are from the 1982 demo “From Thy Disciples”; track 2, 7, 9 are from the 1983 demo ‘From Gates Of Sorrow’ while tracks 3,4 and 8 are unreleased tracks from 1983. I just be short with this: this is just a great release with a ugly cover that fits the time period. If a band releases this kind of music nowadays it will experience the same thing as Sanctus in the eighties: recognition an appreciation after thirty years. (Martin)
