2019 was a very busy year for Krigsgaldr. After releasing his first Full-length, he jumped right into one of South-america’s best kept secret, or maybe not that well kept… Wampyric Rites, from Ecuador. Well, if the information I have is correct, both releases are 7 days apart. Trivia. Wampyric Rotes starts off with their Black Metal full of power and, like many others, Raw and Necrotic. To be honest, I prefer Wampyric Rites’ more Dungeon Synth facet (credit Lord Einsamkeit for that), but they have never disappointed me.
2 tracks for each one. Wampyric Rites’ side is a sort of Black Metal with a more gutsy kick. Faster or slower, it is more “straight to the point” type of Black Metal, more up-tempo. CCR offer us what we previously heard in “Lupine Sacrilage Adorned in Rotting Flesh”, although I actually prefer this release a lot more, and let me tell you why: the guitars are much more audible. “Does that actually make a difference” you ask. Oh, of course it does! The guitars are much more present in the end mix, giving the music a much more Black Metal scent to it. Over 14 minutes of music that are very well crafted, indeed.
What can I say more? I like both projects, not having the same level of love for all their releases, which I think is quite understandable. Nevertheless, well worth your time.
