Unwilling Flesh – Between the Living and the Dead

From out of nowhere Andrew D’Cagna (instrumentalist from the USA, known for his work in acts like Infirmary, Moonthrone, Obsequiae and Harvist (check out their “A Gleam in the Night” album if you’re into USBM) presents his new band Unwilling Flesh. All his other bands are feeding the urge to play Power, Thrash, Black and Dark Metal. Now it is time for Old School Swedish Death Metal! So you will hear everything you expect; the fuzzy guitar sound, the influences of the old Masters but also some Bloodbath and Revel in Flesh-alike stuff as well. The beginning of “Between the Living and the Dead” is furious and has interesting hooks. Towards the end of the album it’s a bit too safe. And the whispering on “Vaults of Eternity” with only a bass on the background, is quite futile in my opinion. Still you will hear interesting riffs, grooves and solos, but I think an EP with the strong hymns, would be a killer release. (Ricardo)
