After ‘The Great White War’, the Italian Black Metal war battalion Orgg focused on the successor to their debut, with the First World War still taking centre stage. To be precise of the scenery, the fighting in the high-altitude Alpine sector of the Italian front.
Orgg’s intention is to musically encapsulate the bitterness of these horrible events that took place in these beautiful snowy mountain landscapes. For example, the Eisstadt is featured, a network of tunnels in a glacier created by the Austro-Hungarian army.
In terms of Black Metal, you can generally expect mid-tempo Second Wave, with variation in tempo, as there are exceptions in terms of up-tempo sections. Additionally, there is ample room for melody and the production is clear, resulting in an album that is certainly not bad, with closing track ‘A Testament’ as a good example of it, but which struggles to stand out in the pool of many releases.
