Flying very much under the radar, here we have the duo Ave Sanguine and their EP from 2023, ‘By Clandestine Will’.
Hailing from the country Turkiye (formerly Turkey) this Black Metal act from the city of Arkana takes most of its cues from the frozen north. This sounds alot like Finnish Black Metal in every way. The songs have a typical verse/chorus pattern and the tempo shifts are stylistically very smooth and sound great. They seem to focus on the topic of vampirism so if you’re not “Team Edward” this might be a deal breaker for you. The guitars have a great clear tone and a very melodic feel. Everything sounds very crisp and clean, I was expecting more of a Raw Black Metal affair but this EP sounds top notch in every way.
A standout track was ‘The Castellan of the Demon’s Castle’ as it mixed their usual sounding material with some very folky acoustic guitars to close out the track. Final track'”Evil is an Absolute Necessity’ is a fitting Dungeon Synth style ending, but this writer was honestly hoping it kicked in for one final shot of venom.
Nonetheless, this is a great effort and sound from the debut of Ave Sanguine.
