Back in 2019, Dutch Black Metal trio Perfide unleashed their debut self titled demo, which was then put out on cassette via label Zwaertgevegt. It opens without bells and whistles into fast paced Black Metal guitar leads and punishing old school drumming, along side the rumble of prominent bass play and evil sounding snarled vocals. Opener ‘Sterven zullen zij’ has a flowing catchy rhythm with excellent technical flourishes on both guitar and drums but never loses it’s straight up attacking edge! There is a simplistic feel to a lot of the demo but that merely adds to the raw demo feel on the whole, and yet in places the demo rises out of this and breaks into intensive guitar leads that combine with the deep throbbing bass play and the identity of the whole release changes. It’s an odd demo on the whole but no less enjoyable for it, in places raw, stripped back and minimalist in the production, at others its a rampaging cavernous sounding beast with an impressive atmosphere.
