Opiumortem – Demo 1+2 [Compilation]

opiumortem – demo 1+2 [compilation]

Info

Bulgaria’s Opiumortem’s both demos were rather hard to get, in fact, only the first one, entitled ‘Lethargia’ was released on a very small self-released run of cassette tapes. The second and self-titled demo never had a physical release. When I informed about the plans of both of the recordings about half a year ago with the single soul behind the band, he responded that both would be made available through Narbentage Produktionen. So, things apparently worked out well, since two of Bulgaria’s best-kept Black Metal secrets were reissues on one tape.

Both demos were covered with a separate review on our VM-Underground pages, so for a more detailed review on both demos you could consider going through these two reviews as well. This compilation tape, however, does give a good overview of what Opiumortem is all about and, at the same time, the only way to obtain a physical copy of that self-titled demo. Most remarkable maybe, if you are completely unaware of Opiumortem’s music is that both of these demos are completely instrumental. Yet, the absence of any kind of vocals is hardly missed due to the exciting song writing and splendid ambiance of both recordings. Dark, gloomy and sinister Black Metal that is predominantly on the slow side, but is nevertheless quite convincing. This compilation tape is done in a small run of 66 copies, it might be a small number, but it is still available at the time of writing.
