Mezexis – Demo 1 [Demo]

mezexis – demo 1 [demo]

Info

After the Big Wave Of Chilean Death Metal that started about 15 years ago, it now seems there’s coming more and more Black Metal from this South American hotspot for underground metal. We at VM-Underground have reviewed a fair share of these Chilean Black Metal outburst. This new obscure band Mezexis is one of those latest newcomers, with their simply titled ‘Demo 1’ they offer their self-released recordings.

This 2-track demo clocks in at just over 7 minutes, making it a very short ride. What they showcase is a not very acrobatic form of Black Metal that does very little to get your imagination going – no frills or other nonsense. Just straightforward Black Metal, played raw and full of hate with simple riffs and basic drums. The vocals sound nice and rough with a tasty layer of reverb and that makes them sound a bit like Necrowretch on their ‘Putrefactive Infestation’-EP from 2011 (Me Saco Un Ojo/Detest Records). Without sounding like a direct copy of a specific band, Mezexis still lacks a bit of the personal touch to be able to hit the big time. Yet it is by no means a wrong start for Mezexis and I am looking forward to this demo’s follow-up.
