Kaldeket – Vitiate [Demo]

kaldeket – vitiate [demo]

Info

US Black Metal duo Kaldeket have created a gushing debut demo which gives off desperate vibes from the outset. Entitled ‘Vitiate’, the demo consists of three tracks whose main features are sporadic and off kilter sounding guitar leads combined with a prominent bass rhythm, raw, strained vocals that site low in the mix, and a furious drumming style that makes each song surge past at blistering speed. I certainly can’t argue with the band wanting to forge their own sound, and the icy, yet bizarre guitar tones do strive for authenticity, whilst a wintry melodic undertone adds an aura of the atmospheric to the demo. In the second track, ‘448c’, that does come off a little like pageantry, but the morose synth tones that kick in later on keep the overall sound grounded. Mostly though this demo is pretty raw sounding, and always played with maximum aggression despite the pretentions towards the melodic.
