Inborn Suffering – Wordless Hope

inborn suffering – wordless hope

Info

Bands like Inborn Suffering and albums like “Wordless Hope” gives me so much pleasure and hope for the future. They have been proving a lot to the world which has a priceless value. France is getting a true giant in delivering high-end doom products, no wonder, they eat crisps on baguette! It would make me all doomy too…

In times of a seemingly resurrected My Dying Bride and Saturnus, an unstopable Swallow The Sun and a reborn The Prophecy there must be glory times ahead for this French combo as it can easily compete with the likes of Officium Triste, Katatonia, mid-era Anatheam and the aforementioned bands. It’s easily heard that these bands have been of a major influence on the material on “Worldless Hope”, which means that there aren’t any real surprises to be found on the album, but it is effective enough to distance itself from most of the grey mass. The music can easily be described as a well balanced mix between Saturnus, Swallow The Sun and Officium Triste, which means heavy guitars and nice melodies on guitars and piano. The hints of Katatonia can be heard in “The Agony Within” for instance which has got a true “Brave Murder Day”-alike vibe breathing throughout the song. While vocally it has a lethal blend of vocals that remind of Mikko Kotamäki from Swallow The Sun and the mourning parts sound so much like mid-era (read: “The Silent Enigma”-era) Anathema and Celtic Frost on their “Into The Pandemonium” album, listen to the aforementioned awesome mourning and brilliantly titled “The Agony Within”. Everything has been topped with a huge production that shows the full potential of this band, the only complaint can be that a few of the details get a bit overruled with the thick wall of sound. Still, the great musicianship and the talent to write good songs stand high above the whirling sound and that keeps the album more than convincing. So, it might be clear that any fan of the aforementioned bands can’t miss out on this one as this is truly an essential album for any melodic doom follower.
