Hadí Mord – Smuteční Slavnost

hadí mord – smuteční slavnost

Info

Hadí Mord are a band from the Czech town of Brno, famous for its MotoGP circuit but now also for its quirky Death Metal output. Although the band have been active since 2018, it is only now that they have unleashed their debut offering, a full length album entitled ‘Smuteční Slavnost’ which is inspired by Czech vault films from the Sixties.

Following a somewhat haunting intro of eerie organ tones, Hadí Mord waste zero time in hitting into their hard hitting yet technical style. Opening track ‘Smuteční Slavnost’ braves the perilous waters between tremendously abrasive and colossal riffs, and absorbing song craft. One moment churning out powerfully aggressive guitar leads accompanied by strong, raucous drum tones and a fair dose of rumbling bass, the next moment an audio sample of some historic gem of Czech cinema, and then another shift into slower, more groove laden yet still crushingly heavy melodies. And so on and so forth, the ebb and flow of the album changes like a kaleidoscope of brutal sounds, from the chugging brutality and catchy rhythms of ‘Čest a sláva’ to the furiously groove drenched riffs and slower drumming style of the intro to ‘Podezření’, before unleashing a belligerent assault upon the senses!

There is a great deal to enjoy on ‘Smuteční Slavnost’; the unorthodox but locally specialised lyrical matter, the slightly accented aggressive vocals mixed with ferocious growls, and the changeable guitar leads and thuggishly heavy riffs that forever keep you guessing as to which way this savage slice of Old School Czech Death Metal will go next!
