Fossilization – He Whose Name Was Long Forgotten [EP]

fossilization – he whose name was long forgotten [ep]

Info

The first time notice this highly anticipated 2021 release, was because the expectations about “He whose name was long forgotten” were focused on their quality as a Death Metal band. In addition, what caught my attention (which was also part of the general hype around the band) was the fact that two members of the well-known Jupiterian, are the creators of this interesting Death Metal project. Even though they have shown a competent performance on every Jupiter release, this debut EP has been a great revelation.

As soon as I plunged into the tracks, all my previous thoughts were left behind. This duo from Sao Paulo embraces its way through progressively cavernous and brutal forms of Death Metal.

If you are into the vein of contemporary Doom/Death listening to Krypts or Void Rot, you’ll enjoy this one. From the beginning, in “Neanderthal Tombs”, they interpret swampy and foggy passages, where the guitar hypnotizes and leads us towards incessant and violent passages, where the drums and growls stand out for their fierceness. They deftly amalgamate the gloom of Doom with the brutality of Brazilian Death Metal.

I think “Caronte” solidly combines its origins and influences, as well as its horizon as an emerging project. On the other hand, one of my favourite tracks is “He whose name was long forgotten”.

To conclude, I would like to underline that they honour the violent essence of Brazilian Death Metal present in bands like Escarnium or even Krisiun. It’s important to listen carefully, more than once, to appreciate all the nuances of Fossilization, because it’s a very well done release in many ways.
