Desaster – 666: Satan’s Soldiers Syndicate

desaster – 666: satan’s soldiers syndicate

Info

Though they are certainly some kind of worship/’tribute to the gods’ band, Desaster is, in the meantime, one of the longest running German thrash bands. It might have gone mainly unnoticed but they have been releasing quite some stuff over the years, the number of releases is slowly getting to the number of twenty with this new record being the nineteenth. Not bad for a band that is purely playing old school thrash metal like the 90’s never happened…

Their newest opus, “666 – Satan’s Soldiers Syndicate”, is again a step forwards in thrash metal madness in comparison to their previous two releases, the “Angelwhore”-album and the “Infernal Voices” 12”. What is most striking is the incredible huge production that allows the music to be even more pounding and aggressive – though, underground purists who’d like to stick to muddy production will hate it. And the hints of black metal are even more present than ever before, which results in “666” being a blackened thrash record, even more so than their previous efforts. But with Desaster you can never speak of ‘revolutions’ or even heavy changes in the musical path they are walking, so people who have been following this band for the last few years (or even from the beginning) will still be well-served with this new record. They still sound as the perfect mixture of the old Sodom and old Destruction played a tad faster and tighter, yet with the heart on the right place. Good things to mention about this record is that it contains guest appearances by the likes of Proscriptor (Absu), A.A.
Nemtheanga (Primordial) and Ashmedi (Melechesh).

This “666” is really near perfect in terms of feeling, production and songs and this really should put Desaster on the highest stage of the ongoing thrash/heavy/speed metal ‘revival’ movement. At least, this is a great record that is able to put a big smile to my face and makes me very thirsty!
