One of the first pictures that come to mind while listening to this hidden gem is that its warm production automatically sends us back to albums such as “His Majesty at the Swamp” (Varathron) or “Non Serviam” (Rotting Christ). Moreover, if it wasn’t for the vocals, this LP could be mislead as a doomy 70’s progressive rock effort because of the cover art and the folky approach to the guitar and the bass.
“El Valle del Cóndor” is a 36-minute colorful voyage that brings forth all the aforementioned elements in order to set a very original, mournful soundscape that goes beyond the boundaries extreme metal music has offer, coming up with crafty anthems of gloom. Ave Castilla! (azathoth)
