Clairvoyance – Threshold of Nothingness [EP]

clairvoyance – threshold of nothingness [ep]

Info

Clairvoyance come from the Polish capital Warsaw and ‘Threshold of Nothingness’ is their debut EP. In it, you will find five tracks of darkened old-school Death Metal in the best traditions of bands such as Immolation and Incantation.

The beginning is set by ‘Decline into Oblivion’ which is an aggressive and brutal chunk of sonic violence consisting of heavy guitar riffs, blasting drumming and the deep grunts of the vocalist Maciej Cazarczyk. Clairvoyance put some doomy elements inside their Death Metal music, contributing to the sound’s heaviness. Just hear the beginning of ‘Chronicles of Emptiness’ which has this apocalyptic feeling that you can find in the music of bands such as Winter or Sorrow but also offers plenty of tempo changes from slow to blast-beating. In contrast, the following ‘A Cairn of Souls’ starts with grinding drumming then it slows a little bit after which it goes full speed ahead again. This is the shortest track in the EP and the one that I liked best.

The final ‘Tarnished Vessel’ has a certain Bolt Thrower/Asphyx influence and is a perfect closure of this release. Clairvoyance are beyond doubt are a very talented band and the consecutive proof of the greatness of the Polish extreme metal scene.

Do not hesitate to hear this EP because it offers first-class Death Metal that will not disappoint you!
