Centenary – Into the Graveless Beyond

centenary – into the graveless beyond

Info

Formed in 2014, and with 2 previous releases “Ghastly Graves” demo (2016) and “…Where No Lives Matter” EP (2017), this Detroit-Michigan combo returns with their debut full-length “Into the Graveless Beyond” which contains 9 tracks of dirty, raw and primitive Death Metal the most ugly kind.

“Phantasm Spasm” is the first track of this nightmare, showing Swedish Death Metal driven riffs and snare drums with the same rhythm and a Dismember(-esque) vocal style, all together with precise solos that gives each song the climax this severe kind of Death Metal needs to be. From a personal view I guess the backing vocals aren’t needed in this particular style and distract the attention from their music and I think it would be sufficient and more intense if they only use the lead vocals.

There are a lot of Swedish (underground) influences and this is real rusty chainsaw style Death Metal, I love it! I really like what they do on the second track “Ghastly Graves” as they start it with the funeral march played by themselves, which I think fits very well. There is variation on the album and I insist the solos on “Into The Graveless Beyond”  gives this album something extra.

If you are looking for some gruesome Death Metal like a combination of Dismember, Nihilist and Vomitory, well…here you have it. Centenary is a safe buy that will satisfy your hunger… (Gangrene Pus)
