Carpathian Wrath – The Son Of The Dragon [EP / Re-Release]

carpathian wrath – the son of the dragon [ep / re-release]

Info

Carpathian Wrath is a three-piece Black Metal band from Puerto Rico. Probably not quite the place you that you will come up with when you think of classic 90’s “Vampyric Black Metal”. It also takes a vampire quite a bit of time to fly from Puerto Rico to Transylvania, but, ahh well, who gives a bat’s ass? There are no Carpathian forests in Norway either, is there?

‘The Son Of The Dragon’ was originally released in 2020 but recently got a remastering job and was made available at the end of last year. Although the amendments are actually rather marginal, the music still holds its mystique and dark ambiance. The band’s basis is solid, Raw and Lo-Fi Black Metal on top of which they add a layer of keyboards. That addition of Dungeon Synth really propels the music into those great 90’s territories in which Raw Black Metal really flourished and offered something completely new. But it is not solely nostalgia that Carpathian Wrath is offering, their riffs are crafted expertly and the subdued melodies and even more tucked away reverbed vocals are adding to the overall musical quality of ‘The Son Of The Dragon’. The three tracks, intro and outro add up to a playing time of 14 minutes and are sure to please fans of 90s-inspired Vampiric Black Metal of the gritty kind.
