Carpathian Wrath – Spells From The Cryptic Moon [Demo]

carpathian wrath – spells from the cryptic moon [demo]

Info

If Puerto Rican Carpathian Wrath have proved anything (besides their own musical prowess, of course), it is how elitist Metal Archives’ arbitrary regime is. Several attempts have apparently been made to include the band in the encyclopaedia, but the answer always remains ‘no’. Still, there is nothing that should stop the band from being admitted, after all, there are plenty of bands with less metal in their sound (in various genres) that have been submitted to the website.

Well, that was that then, now on to Carpathian Wrath. On this latest release, a rehearsal set of just under 15 minutes long, the band brings their most raw and rough sounding Black Metal to date. It does start with a Dungeon Synth-like intro, but then moves straight into an American-like form of Black Metal, not too far removed from some earlier to mid-period Judas Iscariot material. The equally Lo-Fi and ragged sound of this rehearsal set gives the whole thing a good atmosphere and proves without a doubt my statement above. The trio is in no way inferior to many other bands from (for instance) South America currently operating in this same and much beloved genre. To add to their own musical statement, as their last song (not counting the short outro) a cover version of Impaled Nazarene’s ‘Goat Perversion’ is performed. As far as I’m concerned, definitely another good release from this Puerto Rican trio. I hope they don’t let themselves be fooled and continue to just focus on their own craft.
