Appalling – Inverted Realm

appalling – inverted realm

Info

Rotting from Richmond, Virginia (USA) Appalling is serving you a nice slab of blended Black and Death Metal, that is more brutal and chaotic than melodic. So no melodies in the vein of Dissection or Necrophobic but more pure malicious riffs the Angelcorpse way. Although it would be wrong comparing “Inverted Realm” with an 100% score with albums like “The Inexorable” or “Exterminate”, as Appalling make more use of pace changes and leads in the vein of early-2000 Marduk and therefore creates less chaos, which can be heard on the closing track “Templar”.

Still not convinced? Let me mention old Absu as well as Summon (with some pleasing albums like “Dark Descent of Fallen Souls” and “Fallen” in their discography) who have quite some similarities with the music presented on this album. Without doubt a more than solid second album made by these guys and definitely worth checking out if you enjoy the fine art of blending the fierceness of both genres. (Ricardo)
