Nightbearer – Tales of Sorcery and Death

nightbearer – tales of sorcery and death

C’mon uncle Testimony Records, give me a break, I’m sorry if I go ahead with the result of this review on the start but it’s impossible don’t do it when you have gold sounding at your ears. I’m happy when I got the task to review this because I have much to say…

You put your finger on the play button and immediately ”Beware the Necromancer” starts with an exquisite blast beat supported by Swedish melodic riffs (don’t misunderstand the ”melodic” part, I’m talking Dismember style melodic, just to give an example) and an opening scream in the most 90’s No Fashion Records Death Metal bands style (if you know what I mean). The skill of writing good compositions is a very well used tool here concerning details and sound.

This sounds of Dismember and Swedish’ Naglfar have got a son of their own and this entity have nursed himself with some old Iron Maiden and the first of release of Edge of Sanity…

Yes, really melodic but very hard and aggressive, even if your experience gives permission you can notice the influence of Bolt Thrower within some melodies. It’s hard for me to understand why band’s like this are not on big cartels or world touring yet… hey!, why is there not a Death Metal Hall of Fame? Should be nice…

Back to Nightbearer, the magical cover by Juanjo Castellano shows exactly what you will hear, a beautiful masterpiece of Melodic driven Death Metal made in Germany, is there anything else you need to know for buy this album?

Their previous work ”Stories from Beyond” released by Unholy Fire Records on CD (2018) shows the same band with a more ferocious but melodic sound but is well done like “Tales of Sorcery and Death”. This is the kind of bands we need for 10 years more, and I guess it would be a good thing if they take 2 years between each new release so they don’t loss their magic as some bands use to release so much stuff in short time and ends drowning fans, but that is my personal view.

Whaterer they do, I’m sure the next release by this guys will be another milestone, I guess I will need start selling meth or maybe start with some kind of gigolo service for aged people, because with so many good releases there is no wallet that beholds enough money to buy them all…

Absolutely recommend “Tales of Sorcery and Death” and their previous EP as well. (Gangrene Pus)
